Cooperative Space denotes the subset of the Sum of Living Space that was dominated by the Interstellar Great Cooperatives of the Hasvativa, as opposed to Klaatian Space.
Cooperative Space covered the majority of Sum of Living Space with roughly 70% at the height of Hasvativa expansion. Although the Klaatian Alliance had no power within the Cooperative Space, she had limited powers in the areas of justice and police. Within Cooperative Space, souvereign entities existed nevertheless in form of the New Kodran Empires. But as the Kodran cared little to control space and the Hasvativa had their own colonies, control of the space out of the Klaatian Alliance was essentially in the hands of the Great Cooperatives.

Other than in Klaatian Space, the market within Cooperative Space was completely unregulated in theory. There existed no restrictions or rules. However, different Great Cooperatives formed monopolies on their respective sector, controlling their share of the market. Out of the initial phase of expansion, several powerful Great Cooperatives emerged, with the most prominent being the Great Cooperative of Transportation and the Great Cooperative of Navigational Support. The relations between them shaped the further development of the entire Cooperative Space, along with several other powerful cooperatives. Soon, each of the Cooperatives would evolve into "Robber Cooperatives", securing their monopoly on the market by methods ranging from intimidation to brute force.
Law and Order was first guaranteed by regional militias or private groups. Later, the Great Cooperatives paid for institutions to guarantee order and only dealt with people who weren't accused of a serious crime. Later, after the Core Conflict, the Klaatian Alliance was allowed to take over or establish a police and a judicial system. However, the Klaatian Alliance was supposed only to investigate in the case of serious crimes, like theft, damage of property or violence against other Hasvativa. In the end, the Klaatian Alliance had no sovereign rights within Klaatian Space and no authority to actually enforce common law. In the end, law was made arbitrary by the Great Cooperatives.
Every aspect of life was dominated by the Great Cooperatives. Usually, the options for the individuals were to be either small and unimportant or to serve one of the Great Cooperatives. While the Great Cooperatives did not regulate the life of individuals from the beginning, as soon as someone would draw the attention of one of the Cooperatives on him - eg. by providing the same service - it was most likely that he was given the option to join the respective Cooperative; and if he rejected that offer, he was most likely pushed out of business, by more or less savory methods.
For single individuals, it was often a question of luck on how life under the Great Cooperatives would effectively look like, depending mostly on the discretion of local agents of a Cooperative.
There existed no standing army within Cooperative Space to possibly defend it from intruders. The Great Cooperatives, however, had their own contingent of well equipped security personell. As a result of the Core Conflict, also a broad market for mercenaries and agents existed, organized in two powerful cooperatives as well (Cooperatives of Arms and the Cloaked Cooperative).
Only at the end of their existence, the Cooperatives began to negotiate on the establishment of a common military force, even combined with the Klaatian Alliance, in order to counter terrorism carried out by the Judgement. However, the establishment was preceded by the Great Breakdown
